Thanks to everyone who was able to join the NOMCON Logistics Community Call this last Thursday. For any that missed it, you can catch it here: https://youtu.be/o6dCfUuX6O4
As a handy reference, please find some of the key logistics details below.
The agenda has been updated at nomcon.org/conference-agenda to include links to the documents that will be used to take notes during each of the sessions.
Things kick off early Saturday with registration opening at 7:30am and our opening keynote starting at 8:30am. Full lunch buffet will be provided both days, with vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, and non-vegetarian options. Coffee, tea, fruit tray, and light snacks will also be provided throughout the day.
Please be sure to stay as long as you can, especially since the culminating sessions of the conference are the Project Planning Sessions happening across all of the rooms on Sunday at 1:00pm. The conference ends at 3:30pm on Sunday to give as much time as possible for those catching flights out from Albuquerque.
In Santa Fe, there are a number of accessible, public transportation options. More details and a map can be found at nomcon.org/faq or you can directly contact Geraldine Salazar, who works for the City of Santa Fe by phone at (505) 473-4444 or email at email@example.com.
FRIDAY ARRIVAL RECEPTION (PLEASE RSVP)
If you are flying into Albuquerque on Friday, please do RSVP and head over to FUSE Makerspace (101 Broadway Blvd NE suite 3100, Albuquerque, NM 87102) anytime between 1pm and 8pm for a welcoming reception. From there you can catch a shuttle bus we will have on a loop to the Santa Fe Rail Yard where you can drop off your luggage at Site Santa Fe and then check out the Currents Festival Opening Weekend that will be going on from 6pm to midnight.
SATURDAY EVENING RECEPTION (PLEASE RSVP)
After the keynote session Saturday evening, there will be the chance to gather as birds of a feather groups (groups of folks with similar interests) and connect for a little while. Then you can head out to either the reception hosted by Descartes Labs at CASA ESPANA (2 blocks away, approximately 5-minute walk) or by Meow Wolf at MEOW WOLF (4.5 miles, approximately 15 min drive). We will have a shuttle bus that will do a few loops originating at the convention center between 6pm and 9pm. If you are going to Meow Wolf, please note that to go beyond the foyer reception and into the exhibit, there is a cost (your name badge will get you a 50% discount).
Our exhibit hall will have some great hands-on experiences and vendors. Be sure to check out Forest Scientific, Idaho STEMAction Center, Lemelson-MIT, MAKE Navajo Technical University, Santa Fe, MakerFX, Stemfinity, and the WeTheBuilders. If you haven't been following the #WeTheRosies project, be sure to swing by to help in the on-site creation of the massive Rosie the Riveter monument.

If you aren't already in the Nation of Makers Slack Workgroup, please fill out the form at nomcon.org or send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send you an invite. If you haven't been in Slack for a while or don't have the Slack app on your phone yet, be sure to download it and join us online. We'll be using it throughout the weekend as a tool for communication and organization. We've added a number of apps and integrations recently to help in that process. If you aren't into using Slack, please be sure to check back on the website or at the info/registration desk for any updates.
On whatever platform you are using, please be sure to tag us and/or use the hashtags #nomcon and #nationofmakers!
Also, be sure to connect with Ian or Andy (find them on Slack: @iancole / @andy) to swing by the recording room for a lightning round on the new Make the Nation podcast!
If you are available and would like to help out as a volunteer, we do still have a few slots needed (most all assignments are being emailed out today - so stay tuned if you've already filled out the form!). If you would like to help, please fill out the form https://goo.gl/forms/m2QJakpDSq3iRnej2 or contact Tim Bailey directly (email@example.com or @tim846 on Slack).
RECORDING & DATA COLLECTION
And speaking of recording, please note that we will be documenting NOMCON via video and still photography to share on social media. We will also be collecting feedback and data for us to be able to improve what we do. If you have any concerns about this, please contact us.
WEEK OF MAKING
Finally, NOMCON kicks off the National #WeekOfMaking – so please don't forget to go to the Week of Making website to participate, including to post events you all will be having around the country in celebration!
